Firm stood the Banyan tree,
For every passer by, who came to see,
With it's soul stretched and body straight,
It greeted everyone, who ever came to the nearby gate,
It has stood there, almost for 50 years,
It has seen everything, from most honest people to worst liars;
With it's largely spread shelter and a lovely glee,
It safe guarded any one, who came beneath the tree;
Firm stood the Banyan tree,
For every passer by, who came to see!!
A lonely beggar, once lived beneath the tree bark,
People say he was a wealthy man, torn apart by a loan shark;
With a blanket and a small piece of bread as the only possession left,
He tried to indulge himself, in an act of theft.
People caught and beat him, took his everything away,
He came under the tree, as that was the only place, where he could stay,
Being beaten, injured, he soon passed away,
People covered him with a blanket, death is much kinder, was all left to say,
But the tree stood still, with it's spirit high,
It did not make a noise, it didn't cry!!!
With it's largely spread shelter and a lovely glee,
It safe guarded any one, who came beneath the tree;
